Big Lesson 7 – Pacing it (Proverbs 16:32)

Proverbs 16:32 has probably been the most useful Proverb in my life.

Proverbs 16:32 ESV

“Better a patient man than a warrior, one who holds his temper than one who takes a city”

Man means mankind and so this includes woman. Some translations say patient person.

“Better a patient man than a warrior”. It is true, the pen is greater than the sword e.g. do not kick your neighbours door down and swear at them as their music is too loud. Be patient and persevere with a complaint to the council. Then you will not be arrested and instead your neighbour will be arrested.

“One who holds his temper than one who takes a city”. Did you get that, a whole city. No wonder patience is considered a virtue.

Discipline yourself to be patient. Research it from a valid range of sources in order to get a reliable answer. Then practice it as it is a game changer in tribulation.

NB. Verses are like power pellets by the way. Learn some good verses that apply to your life. Think of the verse that applies in any situation and you will find that you do better as you have just swallowed a power pellet.

In the case of this post you can think of Proverbs 16:32 when you are in a super market queue.
