Heeding what God has taught us during lockdown & learn to follow the Holy Spirit

Heeding what God has taught us

I heard a lady on UCB radio the other day say that God was using this time of isolation at home to teach His children personal things and help us deal with some of the things we get wrong.

I think this lady was completely right and I see it happening to me as well. For me, an example of what He is teaching me is that I should be wiser and more prudent. Being at home and needing to stock up on food made me more prudent. It was lovely as I had more tasty meals. Prudence is wisdom and it is a tasty blessing:

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding,
Proverbs 3:13 ESV

What has God been teaching you about yourself in this time.

If your a Christian then I believe that God would have used this time to teach you. It makes sense. The perfect chance to teach His child when the busy and distracting world is gone.

Well, it is God teaching us therefore we must remember what He is saying and also put it into practice.

I want you to remember and heed what God is saying e.g. for me I have learnt to be wiser.

Remember the lessons with a stronghold buster (Freedom In Christ Ministries). There is also a post on this blog about stronghold busters. They can be used to form good habits and break bad habits (strongholds). If you tailor a stronghold buster to what God has taught you, then you can read it slowly and properly once a day for 30 days and find that you do what has been taught automatically e.g.

In Jesus name I realise that it is written that blessed is the person who finds wisdom, the person who finds understanding as stocking up my kitchen made sure that I am safe and the bonus was having tastier food, in Jesus name.

Thankyou Jesus for teaching me wisdom. I will be much more joyful now.

Amen

Wisdom can also be applied to a lot of things and will always bless you e.g. insight that is a part of wisdom can make you culturaly aware so that you know it is ok to do a loud burp after having a meal with Chinese people.

Learning to follow the Holy Spirit

The above paragraph is a naughty naughty and we should always respect the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our helper:

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
John 14:16 ESV

So if we learn to follow the Holy Spirit inside of us then we will do well.

I will say some practical logic that will help us follow.

One day I was feeling a bit sludgy, I mean I felt a bit fat and tired. I walked past a bench in the park and the Holy Spirit reminded me that when I do running I feel fresh and invigorated. So I listened to the reminder and it worked. When you are a Christian you usually just know in your knower that it is the Spirit. Be wise and discern if it is the Holy Spirit talking to you though i.e. He will not ask you to do un wise things. So then, know that you have been told something and then discern if it is right. Maybe think about how it effects Jesus, Others and You (JOY).

Now the logic is this; if the Holy Spirit has told you do this once and it helped you, then do it again and again. By definition then, you would then be following the Holy Spirit. Simple logic.
